An article tells you how hard it is to treat waste water from modern power plants.

 Water, the most widely distributed substance on the planet, occupies almost three quarters of the planet and, in addition to rivers, lakes, oceans, snow accumulation and glaciers, there is a significant amount of groundwater and a considerable amount of water vapour in the surface and atmosphere. Thus, water is one of the very important fundamentals of nature. But you know what?

Water is also an indispensable material for the industrial sector.

Super-high water quality requirements for modern power plants

Requirements for water quality are different due to differences in the industrial sector. In modern power plants, the long-term reliable operation of power plants cannot be sustained without a large amount of ultra-purified and circulatory water, as the accumulation of mineral sediments and particulate matter in boilers and steam generators reduces the useful life of turbines, resulting in high repair or replacement costs. As a result, water quality and water purification in power plants are highly demanding.

Water quality trace from modern power plants

In order to ensure super-quality water, trace magazines need to be accurately measured at one billionth of a billion (ppb) levels, while often added regulating chemicals must be rigorously tested and controlled to avoid erosion of turbines, boilers and pipes in power plants. Traces of anion and anion, as well as dissolved gases, contaminate high-purity water, so continuous detection of these substances is key to preventing sedimentation and corrosion.

Thermo ScientificTM Sensors and Online AnalyserYou can meet many of your needs for water purification, boiler water control, condensation and extraction applications. Proper chemical substance management, such as minimizing trace salt and silicate dioxide contamination, controlling dissolved gases such as oxygen and ammonia, and maintaining the correct alkali (pH) range, not only avoids high costs and exceeds planned stoppages, but also significantly prolongs the service life of the equipment.

Water analysis applications

  • (b) boiler water chemistry;

  • Boiler water and water treatment;

  • Steam carrying and contamination of sodium;

  • Sodium in water;

  • Oxygen concentrations used to control the export of degassers;

  • Sodium on the desalter and carbon dioxide too high and calcium on the soft.

  • Alkylity (pH) and conductivity at each point.
